Wednesday night at Hampden, Bangor East hit three home runs to account for seven of their nine runs and Ryan Moore allowed just six hits from the hill as they eliminated Cumberland-North Yarmouth 9-3 in the baseball state tournament for 11-12 all-stars.
Nick Moore slugged a three run home run, and both Ben Crichton and Jake Ireland hit two run homers to provide the offensive attack. Ireland’s home run in the fifth inning was his first little league home run.

Cumberland took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a lead off home run by Caleb Normandeau, and made it 2-0 in the second inning on a Zak Novak home run.
Bangor got one run back in the third inning on an RBI single by Liam Reading, and took the lead for good in the fourth inning when they plated four runs. The BEast got some help from Cumberland in the inning when the District 6 representatives committed all three of their game errors.
With two outs, Dane Johnson, Ryan Moore, and Joey Moir all reached on consecutive errors. Johnson scored on the error that allowed Moir to reach base, and Nick Moore followed. Moore promptly sent the ball out of the park for a 3-run homer to give Bangor a 5-2 lead.
In the fifth inning, Ireland lifted the ball over the left field fence for the first home run of his little league career to put Bangor on top 7-2.

Crichton put the game away in the sixth inning with a one out two run homer, his second home run in as many days, giving Bangor a 9-2 lead. Cumberland added one more run in the bottom half of the sixth, and left the bases loaded when Nick Moore got the final batter to bounce back to the mound.
Hitting for Bangor was Nick Moore (home run, two singles, three RBIs), Crichton (home run, single, two RBIs), Ireland (home run, two RBIs), Reading (three singles, RBI), Moir (single), and Tyler mallory-MacDonald (single).
Ryan Moore got the win from the hill with five innings pitched. He scattered six hits and allowed three runs while walking one and striking out seven.
Normandeau had a home run and two RBIs for Cumberland, while Novak added a homer and an RBI. Also hitting was Reid Howland (double, single), Calvin Soule (single), and Austin Nowinski (single).
Bangor East scored nine runs on 10 hits while committing two errors. Cumberland had three runs on six hits and made three errors.
Bangor East (2-1) will now face undefeated Camden-Rockport (2-0) for the state title at 5:30 on Thursday night. If Bangor wins, the same two teams will battle for the title on Friday night at 5:30.
