The Midcoast North 15 year old Babe Ruth team suffered its first loss of the State Tournament in Portland Saturday losing 10-4 to Westbrook.
The North is now scheduled to play the winner of Sunday’s first scheduled game between Portland and Southern York. The North has defeated both of these teams once and will need to again to make it to the championship. The first game is scheduled for 10 a.m. with the North scheduled for 1 p.m.

Westbrook scored three in the first and six in the second and never looked back scoring one more in the top of the seventh. MIdcoast North scored two in the second and two in the fourth. In the fourth inning the North had plated two runs and had runners on first and second when Alex Crans singled to left field. On the play Westbrook caught Greg Clark in a rundown between home and third for an out and then caught Gabe Desjardins between second and third for the double play that ended the threat.
In the fifth inning the North left the bases loaded without scoring a run as Westbrook got a soft roller to first to end the inning. North left seven runners on base throughout the game.
Keenen Lowe pitched six innings for Westbrook for the win allowing four runs, one earned on four hits and four walks while striking out five. M. Rioux pitched the seventh striking out the side to end the game.
Adam Carlsen took the loss for the North pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing seven runs, five earned on seven hits and a walk. Taylor Hall pitched 4 1/3 innings of relief allowing two runs on six hits and six walks while striking out three. Tyler Prescott pitched the final 1 1/3 innings allowing one run on two hits with a strikeout.
