Midcoast North picks up second win in state tournament

The Midcoast North 15 year-old Babe Ruth team picked up its second win in as many games at the Babe Ruth State Tournament being played at Deering Oaks in Portland.

With a 7-6 win over Southern York the north is just one win away from being in the drivers seat to capture the state championship.

Tyler Prescott pitched 3 1/3 innings for the North allowing two runs on one hit and four walks with one strikeout. Connor Hart pitched 1 2/3 innings allowing two runs on one hit and two walks while striking out two. Greg Clark pitched 11/3 innings allowing two runs on two hits and a walk. Taylor Hall pitched one inning walking two and Adam Carlsen pitched one inning striking out one for the save.

No pitching results were available for Southern York.

Hitting for the North were, Adam Carlsen (run), Evan Drinkwater (single, RBI, run), Joel Berry (2 singles, 2 RBIs, run), Taylor Hall (single, RBI, run), Connor Hart (RBI), and Alex Crans (single, 2 RBIs).

For Southern York, Markham (RBI, 2 runs), Thyng (2 doubles, 2 RBIs, 2 runs), Hamm (RBI), Buirke (2 walks, RBI), and Newton (single, RBI, run).

The North will play Westbrook today (Saturday) at 3 p.m. Should they win they are in the championship game and would have to lose twice. If Westbrook wins North would play Sunday at either 1 p.m. or 8 p.m. Game time is yet to be determined.
