Ski season opens for high school with cross country meet at Sugarloaf

The high school ski season kicked off Saturday at Sugarloaf with the boys and girls free technique cross-country races.

The boys race was won by Freeport with 36 points. Mt. Blue’s Kelton Cullenberg was the top racer with a time of 11:48.

The girls race was won by Leavitt with 45 points. The top spot went to Mt. Blue’s Hannah Allen with a time of 14:29.

The top 10 boys team scores were, 1 Freeport 36; 2, Mt. Blue 52; 3, Leavitt 55; 4, Oxford Hills 61; 5, Maranacook 75; 6, North Yarmouth Academy 97; 7, Orono 114; 8, Mt. Abram 130; 9, Hampden Academy 172; and 10, Winthrop 173.

For the girls the top nine teams were, 1, Leavitt 45; 2, Mt. Abram 47; 3, Mt. Blue 49; 4, Maranacook 55; 5, Oxford Hills 70; 6, Winthrop 90; 7, Camden Hills 94; 8, Hampden Academy 130; and 9, Livermore Falls 179
