Northport, ME – Eastern Maine Board #111 of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials is offering a Prospective Officials Class for any individuals, 18 years of age or older, who are interested in becoming certified basketball officials. Individuals living in Hancock, Knox, Penobscot, Piscataquis and Waldo Counties are eligible to take this class. The class will be held at Reed’s Brook Middle School, Room #164, in Hampden on Sundays & Wednesdays from 6 – 8:30 pm starting Sunday September 21st. Hermon – Monday night in Hermon, Kergan Perkins and Ethan Quimby homered and Wyatt Harriman went the distance on the hill to lead the Bronco Little League 11/12 all-stars to the District 3 championship with a 5-1 victory over runner up Hermon. Bronco LL plated four runs in the first inning, highlighted by a Perkins 2-run blast, to take a 4-0 lead. Hampden – Tuesday night in Hampden, Bronco Little League pitcher Wyatt Harriman needed just 58 minutes to pick up a 10-0 four inning Mercy Rule win over Hermon and Kent Oliver had the power bat working in an 11/12 All-Stars playoff game. Harriman threw just 52 pitches in the game, and he allowed just two hits. He did not walk a batter and struck out nine of the 12 outs recorded. Hampden – Bangor/Glenburn 9/10 all-stars softball ended the winning streak of Bronco Little League on Monday night with a 12-2 four inning Mercy Rule win to claim the 2014 District 3 Championship at the Ball Field Road complex in Hampden on Monday night. Hampden came out of the losers bracket after falling to Bangor on Thursday night to win three straight games including handing Bangor their only loss on Sunday. Hampden – Sunday morning in Hampden, the Bronco Little League 9/10 softball All-Stars overcame a 4-run deficit and went on to defeat top seed Bangor by a score of 15-10 in the District 3 tournament at the Ball Field Road complex. Hampden quickly fell behind 4-0 in the top of the first inning, but the Broncos battled back and by the top of the sixth inning held a 15-8 lead. Hampden – Saturday morning at the Ball Field Road softball complex in Hampden, Bronco Little League used some clutch hitting and timely defense to come away with a 13-12 semifinal game victory over Lincoln in the 9/10 District 3 softball All-Stars tournament. Hampden improves to 2-1 in the tournament, and will take on 2-0 Bangor in a possible championship game on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. Should Hampden win, the championship game will be Monday night at 6:00 p.m. Should Bangor get the win on Sunday, they will be crowned the 9/10 year old District Champions. Hampden – Friday afternoon at the Ball Field Road softball complex, the host team Bronco Little League (Hampden) cruised to a 30-17 Mercy Rule four inning victory over Hermon in the 9/10 all-stars softball District 3 softball tournament. Hampden improves to 1-1 in the tournament, while Hermon finished with an 0-2 record.
