Hampden claims EMBL 7/8 Grade A Division boys Championship

Hermon – At Hermon High School on Sunday afternoon, the Hampden boys 7th/8th grade travel team took home the Eastern Maine Basketball League “A” Division Championship with a 55-43 victory over the Brewer Witches to wrap up the EMBL 2014-15 season. Hampden opened the first half (teams play two 16 minute periods) with a 7-0 run over the first minute and a half and never relinquished the lead through the final buzzer. Glenburn boys cruise to win over short handed Bobcats

Glenburn – When these two teams met earlier in the season Glenburn had to rally late to pick up a 5-point win, but on Thursday it was a totally different story. Caravel was playing without three starters, and the Chargers took full advantage coming away with a 61-40 victory. Isaac Varney set the tone early scoring eight points in the first quarter as Glenburn took a 16-4 lead. Balanced scoring gives Glenburn girls victory over Caravel

Glenburn – Six of the seven scorers for the Chargers tallied between six and eight points to lead Glenburn to a 39-16 victory over the Caravel Bobcats on Thursday afternoon at the Glenburn School in a PVML middle school league game. Glenburn opened the game with a 5-0 lead and led 11-4 at the conclusion of the first quarter. Tianna Cyr led the Chargers in the quarter with five points. The Chargers extended their lead to 19-7 at the half with an 8-3 second quarter. Glenburn closed the game out by out scoring Caravel 20-9 over the second half....

Patriots blow out Colts 45-7. now it’s on to the Super Bowl

Tom Brady completed 23 of 36 throws for 226 yards and three touchdown passes. Brady also had the benefit of a solid running game. Andrew Luck, however, with no running game, completed just 12 of 33 passes for 126 yards and no touchdowns. Once again the Colts defense had no answers for the Patriots bruising running back, LaGarrette Blount. Blount just spent the night, steamrolling over the Colts linebackers, and safeties, for 148 yards, on 30 carries, and three touchdowns. The Patriots secondary was outstanding. Caribou boys pick up victory over Crusaders

Bangor — The Caribou Vikings, in town for a make up game from back on the scheduled opening day cancellation, got their entire roster into the game as they cruised to a 58-42 win over the young John Bapst Crusaders. Caribou (7-3) took a 12-7 first quarter lead and never looked back. A 13-12 second quarter left the Vikings with a 25-19 half time lead. Philippon and True lead Lady Crusaders past Caribou

Bangor – Thursday afternoon at the Cross Insurance Center, Hannah Philippon and Maegan True both scored in double digits and combined for five baskets from behind the arc to lead the John Bapst Crusaders to a 52-34 victory over the Caribou Vikings. John Bapst opened the game with a 10-2 run over the first five minutes of the opening quarter and led 18-2 at the buzzer.
